Dead City Season 2 Confirms Release Window

The second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City has been confirmed to be released in 2025; filming has currently begun.

A spin-off of “The Walking Dead,” which ended in 2022 after 11 seasons, the first episodes of “Dead City” featured Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohen) in their desperate search for the latter’s kidnapped son.

On their journey to New York City, they witnessed a horrific turf war when one side released a six-armed zombie.

The return of Dead City in 2025 was confirmed this week in a teaser clip on Instagram that showed Morgan and Cohen, among others, messing around behind the scenes.

AMC's Dan McDermott was pleased to announce the second season renewal in July last year, saying in a statement, “This next chapter in the Walking Dead universe continues to grow, with a terrific first season of Dead City and a highly anticipated new journey for fan-favorite character Daryl Dixon in September.”

“We can’t wait to bring Dead City fans back to the epicenter of Manhattan for more ziplining action with Maggie and Negan.”

Negan actor Morgan is no doubt hoping for more time on set with co-star Steven Ogg, who reprised the role of the unconventional Simon in a flashback in Season 1.

“I was so happy to be able to bring Steven back,” Morgan told Entertainment Weekly when Dead City first aired. “What an incredible choice – of all the people in this universe that we could bring back, Ogg. I would bring him back any day.”

“I just adore him and I'm really glad he came back. He can have his own damn show doing whatever he wants and I would watch it.”

The Walking Dead aired in the US on AMC and in the UK on STAR on Disney+. Dead City airs every Sunday in the US. A UK release date has yet to be announced.
