Brampton man wants KFC to reconsider its halal transition in Ontario and eventually Canada

A Brampton resident has started a petition on Change.org calling on KFC to reverse its decision to serve only halal meat in Ontario before the plan expands to the rest of Canada by the end of the year.

Jane Stevenson says Roop Sandhu is taking issue with the policy, which the company announced in a memo to its Ontario franchisees (excluding Thunder Bay and Ottawa) in May with plans to roll it out nationwide by year's end, as ignoring the dietary preferences of religious communities that prohibit the consumption of halal meat.

The switch to a menu that accommodates Muslim dietary requirements means that KFC stores must ensure that all chicken products are halal certified and cannot sell products that contain bacon – unless they are joint KFC and Taco Bell locations.

This puts it in the ranks of other chicken chains such as Popeyes and Mary Brown's, which offer halal chicken in most of their branches.

Child molester who took part in the Olympic Games in Paris is not satisfied with negative criticism

Poor Steven Van de Velde.

The 30-year-old Dutch volleyball player, who was regularly booed at every competition during the Paris Olympics, complained about the negative reception he received after the Games and even cried.

What did he expect, considering he had already served 12 months for raping a 12-year-old British girl when he was 19?

If the crowd could have booed the Netherlands for allowing him to compete in the first place, they probably would have done so.

WARMINGTON: Prayer service at busy intersection in city centre not illegal

One of Canada's busiest intersections was closed earlier this month because of a Muslim mass prayer service, but police said their hands were tied and they could not prevent the incident because no laws were broken.

That is certainly true, but what happens when such a demonstration disturbs others, disrupts traffic and makes angry drivers and commuters even angrier?

Joe Warmington describes the scene that took place on a Saturday evening on the west side of Dundas Street, heading east near Yonge Street.

Dozens of people took part in a protest march in the city center in support of Palestine and prayed together to Allah.

We apologize, but this video could not be loaded.

They had other venues to choose from, from Yonge-Dundas Square to Nathan Phillips Square, but no.

Instead, prayer rugs and mats were laid out on the roadway and over the tram tracks, bringing traffic to a standstill in all directions for safety reasons while police stood guard.

If you wanted to go to a hospital in that area, you would have had to find an alternative route to get there. Would that make any difference to the police?

LILLEY: Polls show Trudeau should go, his ego won't allow it

OK, it might seem like Brian Lilley is copying and pasting poll data week after week, but we swear he's not.

And while he certainly doesn't want to sound like a broken record, he can't resist reporting on recent polls of Canadians that once again show that voter support for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has shrunk – this time to less than a quarter of the population.

This shockingly low approval rating is not only because voters are increasingly supporting Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives, but also because, as respondents noted, they see Trudeau as the problem, not the solution, for Canada.

Video of a Florida congresswoman in a sexy MAGA swimsuit draws boos and cheers

Florida State Representative Anna Paulina Luna is a former model and has appeared in Sports Illustrated and Maxim.

She made this point after eight-year-old footage resurfaced online showing her modeling in a hot, MAGA-loving red, white and blue swimsuit, Denette Wilford reported.

The 2016 video made the rounds online, and instead of ignoring all the hype, the Republican congresswoman embraced it and confronted those who took offense to her sexy footage, even making fun of transgender people.

“I confirm that I have indeed worn swimsuits and you can tell that I am biologically a woman,” she posted on X with the hashtag “MAGA.”

In another snarky post, she added: “Since the TikTok Democrats are on my trail, I have to confess something: I wear bikinis on the beach and use mineral sunscreen.”
