Man charged with 35 counts of inciting sexual intercourse with minors

Sealed indictments were recently released in the case of a 57-year-old New York man who is accused of 35 counts of using a communications system to solicit sexual intercourse from a minor in Accomack County.

Court records state that Eris Kalitara, also known as Robert Brett Gulledge of Mineola, was indicted by a grand jury in February on charges of willfully exposing himself to a person between the ages of 15 and 17 to whom he was not married and attempting to seduce, persuade or invite the victim to enter any vehicle, room, residence or other property for the purpose of sexual intercourse.

Kalitara was arrested on July 25. He is being held without bail at the Accomack Jail. The defendant appeared before Judge Lynwood W. Lewis Jr. on Thursday for counseling.

He informed the judge that he had hired two lawyers from New York to represent him, but since neither of them had contacted the court, the judge appointed Jon Thornbrugh to represent him in the meantime.

Records show that Kalitara has a master's degree in computer science and is a househusband supported by his wife. The crimes are said to have taken place between May 2020 and February 2021.
