Instagram model Maecee Marie Lathers blames party drugs and time travel for fatal car crash in Miami

A New York Instagram model who caused a three-car crash in Miami with her Mercedes that killed two people told police she was under the influence of party drugs and believed she was from the future.

WPLG reports that Maecee Marie Lathers, 24, admitted to police that she was under the influence of “pink cocaine,” a synthetic drug also known as 2C that contains ketamine, when she ran a red light and collided with two cars on August 10, killing the driver, Abraham Ismael, and his backseat passenger. Ismael's wife, Juanita Hernández, who was in the passenger seat, survived the crash.

Abraham Ismael was on his way to work with his wife Juanita Hernández when he and another passenger were killed. Hernández survived the accident.

According to reports, Lathers also tried to flee the scene and had to be stopped by onlookers.

“She stated that she was under the influence of '2C,' a known party drug, and that she was from the future and had a crystal ball,” Florida 11th District Court Judge Mindy S. Glazer read from a police report. “She is an absolute danger to the community for killing or driving when she should not have been in a car, and from her statements, she is clearly impaired… and if the citizens or witnesses nearby had not stopped her, she would have fled completely.”

Lathers was charged with four counts of driving without a license resulting in death or serious injury and four counts of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death or serious injury. Glazer ordered Lather held on $140,000 bail.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for Juanita Hernández, who was unable to work due to injuries she sustained in the accident. She said her husband also left behind a 16-year-old son.

“I am no longer able to work due to my injuries and the boy's life has been turned upside down,” the heartbroken wife wrote on GoFundMe. “His mother, who lives in Nicaragua, suffers from Parkinson's disease and is now not only grieving but also no longer has the financial support her son provided.”

Lathers, originally from Fort Plain, NY, has reportedly been living in Florida since 2022.
