Motorcyclist killed in fiery accident during police chase identified

SAN ANTONIO – The motorcyclist who died in a collision during a police chase has been identified.

Authorities identified the motorcyclist as 40-year-old Larry Nees, who died as a result of injuries sustained in Tuesday's crash.

On Tuesday, August 13, at approximately 5:00 p.m., News attempted to elude China Grove police officers by attempting to swerve traffic and run a red light, which resulted in the serious accident.

44-year-old Michael Husky was also killed in the accident. He was driving his car through the intersection at the corner of 1604 and Graytown when he collided with the fleeing motorcycle. Husky succumbed to his injuries.

The chase began after police attempted to stop a group of three motorcyclists while investigating a stolen vehicle.

Drugs, drug paraphernalia and two firearms were found on the motorcycle and near the scene of the accident.

The motorcycle was registered in Laredo and reported stolen in San Antonio earlier this year.

The situation is still being investigated.
