On August 15, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 641N at approximately 1:30 p.m. Detectives from the Calloway County Drug Enforcement Division responded and, with the assistance of Marshall County Sheriff's Office tracking dog “Drax,” determined that the passenger of the vehicle, Amanda R. Cope, was in possession of illegal drugs, some of which were indicative of drug trafficking. 58.0 grams of crystal meth, a quantity of fentanyl pills, Suboxone, and several other drug-related paraphernalia were found. Cope is currently on probation and pleaded guilty to second offense methamphetamine trafficking in 2019.

The driver of the vehicle, Lora L. Carroll, had a suspended license and is no longer allowed to operate a motor vehicle on the road. Both individuals were arrested and transported to the Calloway County Detention Center where they were lodged.
