Donald Trump visits Howell on Tuesday to discuss crime and security

Former President Donald Trump will visit Howell on Tuesday to discuss “crime and security,” his campaign team said Saturday.

Trump will speak at the Livingston County Sheriff's Office, his campaign team said in a press release.

Former President Donald Trump speaks to thousands of people during a rally at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Saturday, July 20, 2024.

The planned visit to Howell will be Trump's sixth visit to Michigan, a key swing state in November's presidential election, this year. Polls show the race has tightened since Vice President Kamala Harris replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee in July.

Howell is located in Livingston County, a Republican stronghold.

“The people of Michigan and the rest of the country cannot endure another four years of weak, crime-tolerant leadership,” the press release said.

Statistics show that violent crime is declining after a rise during the COVID-19 pandemic.
