Blues Brothers Con takes place at Old Joliet Prison

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Joliet is hosting Blues Brothers Con: The Sequel. The event is fittingly held in the old Joliet State Penitentiary, where Dan Aykroyd's Elwood met John Belushi's Jake at the beginning of the 1980 classic film.

Greg Peerbolte, CEO of the Joliet Area Historical Museum, says during the lunch break that the prison is a popular place for Blues Brothers fans.

“We are aware that the prison is actually one of the few remaining places that can be seen.
you know, it really looks like it did in those years.”

Saturday's convention will feature performances by Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi, among others, and will also be a tribute to John Belushi's widow Judy, who died last month.

All proceeds will benefit the Juliet History Museum.
