Cleveland police say child died in hit-and-run while skateboarding

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – Cleveland police are asking for help locating a suspicious vehicle in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash Friday that left a young boy dead, a news release said.

Cleveland police said a vehicle described as a large SUV with tinted windows struck the 7-year-old boy while riding his skateboard in a parking lot around 7:20 p.m.

The boy was riding his skateboard in the parking lot of 16024 Lakeshore Blvd. when, according to police, a car described as a large SUV struck him and pulled him under the vehicle.

The driver fled the scene of the accident, the press release states.

The 7-year-old boy was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, the press release said.
