Three people arrested in Plainfield on drug and weapons charges as part of Moosup investigation

PLAINFIELD – Three men are facing drug charges after police say they were caught with cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

The arrests were made as part of a drug trafficking investigation at a Moosup neighborhood home based on a number of tips, Plainfield police said in a news release.

The first arrest took place on Wednesday when officers stopped a black Audi for a traffic violation and used sniffer dogs to search the car for drugs, police said.

The search found cocaine, drug paraphernalia and cash that investigators suspect may be linked to the illegal drug trade, officials said.

The driver, Steven Callendar, 35, of New Britain, is charged with failure to obey a stop sign and possession of drug paraphernalia and narcotics. He is free on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Aug. 26, police said.

Two more men were arrested early Friday when officers, with help from the Willimantic Regional SWAT Team, executed a search warrant on a home in Moosup, the news release said. Police seized drug paraphernalia, several handguns, crack cocaine and cash from the residence, officials said.

Roy “Butch” Goodwin, 54, faces charges of drug possession, drug possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of illegal possession of a firearm, police said.

Alraheem “Rah” Williams, 35, is charged with two counts of drug possession, drug possession with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of illegal possession of a firearm, authorities said.

Goodwin and Williams are free on $100,000 bail each and are due to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Sept. 3, police said.
