Accident on Chartiers Avenue leaves two injured

A woman is in serious condition and a man is stable after a two-vehicle collision in Pittsburgh's West End Saturday morning. The crash occurred just before 8 a.m. in the 2600 block of Chartiers Avenue, which is the border between the Sheraden and Crafton Heights neighborhoods. According to Pittsburgh Public Safety, a woman in an SUV crossed the center line and collided head-on with a man in a sedan. The man's sedan rolled onto its side. The woman was trapped in her vehicle and required a blood transfusion at the scene. The roof of the SUV was removed and paramedics were able to free the woman. Both patients were taken to the hospital. Chartiers Avenue was briefly closed due to the crash.

The woman was trapped in her vehicle and required a blood transfusion on site. The roof of the SUV was removed and paramedics were able to free the woman.

Both patients were taken to hospital.

Because of this accident, Chartiers Avenue was briefly closed.
