Brazos County clerk arrested for assault: TX

BRYAN, Texas — Brazos County District Clerk Gabriel Andre Garcia was arrested early Saturday morning on assault and domestic violence charges, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Garcia, 36, was arrested at 5:43 a.m. and booked into the Brazos County Jail. His bail was set at $5,000.

The circumstances of the arrest were not detailed in the probable cause statement released Saturday, August 17. More information is expected to be available once an arrest report is filed.

In a statement, Brazos County Judge Duane Peters confirmed the arrest.

“Brazos County officials are aware of the arrest of County Clerk Gabriel Garcia. An indictment against an elected official is deeply concerning, but because this is a legal matter, we cannot comment on specifics at this time. The County Clerk's office is fully staffed and will continue to provide professional customer service. We will provide more information as it becomes available.”
