Maryland man charged with first-degree murder

FREDERICK CITY, Maryland. – Frederick police have arrested a man involved in an overnight murder.

Police responded to a report of a shooting on August 16 at approximately 11:45 p.m. to 1000 Heather Ridge Drive in Frederick City.

When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim with apparent gunshot wounds. Responding officers provided medical attention to the victim until EMS arrived. The victim was then transported to Frederick Health Hospital and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.

The suspect was identified as Elijah Stephen Mboss.

During initial response to the scene, a vehicle was stopped near the scene after an officer noticed the driver of the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and failing to stop at a stop sign.

Officers said that during their contact with Mboss, they discovered evidence linking him to the vehicle involved in the shooting investigation.

Mboss was charged with premeditated murder and second degree murder.
