Two brothers seriously injured and two arrested after stabbing in Cork

Two brothers were taken to hospital this evening following an alleged stabbing in Dunmanway, Co Cork.

The men, aged around 30, were injured when they were attacked with a weapon by another man shortly after 7 p.m.

According to Gardai, two men aged 30 and 70 were arrested in connection with the incident.

At least one of the men is said to have suffered very serious injuries.

The Gardaí are at the scene of the incident.

The injured brothers are currently being treated at Cork University Hospital.

“Gardaí are investigating all circumstances surrounding an attack which occurred in Dunmanway, Co. Cork, shortly after 7pm this evening, Saturday 17 August 2024,” a Garda spokesman said.

“Two men, aged around 30, were taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.

The accident site is currently being secured for a technical investigation.

Two men, aged between 30 and 70 years, were arrested and are currently being detained at a Garda station in the Southern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.”

Gardai said investigations were ongoing.
