Bebe Rexha claims she was the victim of a “hate crime” following an incident at a German airport.

In a series of emotional posts on her Instagram story on Saturday (August 17), the 34-year-old pop singer claimed she was “threatened” at Munich Airport and barred from her Lufthansa flight for speaking Albanian to a security guard.

“I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian,” Rexha wrote under a video of her sobbing. “I spoke to him in Albanian and asked where I could get my ticket and now he is not allowing me to board the flight.”

In another post, she wrote: “I believe this is a hate crime because I am Albanian. He wouldn't let me take his name. He continued to abuse me psychologically to make me feel more powerful. [than] that was him. None of the women at @Lufthansa interfered or said anything. He wouldn't give me his name. But I just found out he works for ATSG, a document control service provider contracted by Lufthansa.”

Rexha also reposted another Instagram user’s request to bring the singer home safely and called on Munich Airport to “investigate the male police officer who [woman]“ because you speak Albanian.

Rexha was born in New York and is of Albanian-North Macedonian descent. The Brooklyn native's father was born in North Macedonia and her US-born mother also has Albanian roots.

A Lufthansa spokesperson told TMZ that the airline is in contact with Rexha to get the full story. Lufthansa reportedly added that “diversity and equal opportunities are core values ​​of their company.”
