Telugu Movies: The fame of Telugu films is driving up ticket prices worldwide | News from Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Indian cinema has always been a World sensationbut the Telugu film industry is now crossing the boundaries of Film Awards like never before.
As Telugu Movies continue to fascinate audiences around the world, the cost of enjoying these cinematic wonders explodes, causing a wave of price shock among fans in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.

The fame of Telugu films is driving up ticket prices worldwide

A prime example of this trend is the recent blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD. The film was released in multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and the Telugu version has driven up ticket prices and left fans of 'rebel star' Prabhas with a hole in their pockets.
In the opening week Ticket prices for the Tamil and Hindi versions, the price was $15. Even for premium formats like IMAX and Premiere Lounge, the price did not exceed $15.
Telugu demands more
Ketan Himanshu Sharma, a student from Hyderabad who is currently pursuing his master's degree in public administration in Dallas, pointed out the discrepancy: “In comparison, the Telugu version was significantly more expensive: standard tickets cost $25, Premiere Lounge tickets cost $30 and IMAX tickets reached an incredible $35.”
This trend of higher ticket prices extends beyond the US. The situation is no different in Canada. Sai Keertan Kottamwar, a Bachelor of Business Administration student studying in Vancouver, Canada, described his experience with the Telugu film Tillu Square.
“The usual price for a movie ticket here is CAD 10 to 12, but for Tillu Square it was around CAD 23. My friends and I ended up paying only CAD 90 for the tickets. It's crazy how these distributors are taking advantage of the popularity of Telugu films to charge exorbitant prices.”
There has also been a significant increase in ticket prices in Australia: IMAX ticket prices for Telugu films have shot up from AUD 25 to as much as AUD 40.
Loss for students
In the UK, the impact of rising ticket prices is clearly felt in subscriptions as well. Sharing her experience, Ashwini Vemuganti, another student pursuing a Masters in Data Science, said, “We can buy subscriptions here that allow us to watch as many films as we want. The price of a three-month subscription, which was previously £55, has gone up to £75 due to the high demand for Telugu films.” They have also stopped giving student discounts, she added.
