19-year-old dies in motorcycle accident on Rieblistrasse

A 19-year-old was killed in a motorcycle accident just outside the city limits of Santa Rosa early Friday evening, the CHP said.

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Riebli Road near Wallace Road, the CHP said in a news release posted on Facebook on Saturday. When officers arrived at the scene, firefighters were already on site and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead, the news release said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the driver was traveling eastbound on Riebli Road at a high rate of speed and illegally passed a vehicle across double lines, the news release said. The motorcyclist lost control approaching a right-hand curve, left the roadway and struck a fence.

Further details were not immediately available. The victim's name was not released by the Sonoma County Sheriff's Coroner's Office.
