Drugs and gun stolen from Baton Rouge area, seized in drug raid in Tangipahoa Parish; 3 people arrested

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, Louisiana (WAFB) – Two men and a woman were arrested following a drug investigation in Tangipahoa Parish, officials said.

Authorities said the investigation began after a tip from the public about suspicious activity at a home on Adelante Street in Independence. After confirming the tip, officers executed a search warrant and discovered packaged marijuana, heroin, scales and a gun believed to have been stolen from the Baton Rouge area.

Officials said all of the items were accessible to a child in the home.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, suspects Justin Cannon, 40, and Lorenzo Jones, 27, were each arrested for possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to resell, possession of CDS in the presence of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of CDS in the presence of a person under the age of 17.

Lorenzo is charged for the second time with possession of a Schedule I CDS with intent to distribute.

Rodrica Jones, 30, was also arrested for simple possession of marijuana, possession of CDS in the presence of a minor, endangering a child and causing a public disturbance.

All suspects were booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on Wednesday, August 14.
