Kamala Harris' price control plan is “communist through and through”

Donald Trump on Saturday criticized Vice President Kamala Harris' plans to impose socialist price controls on food, calling them “communist through and through.”

The Republican presidential candidate compared the economic proposals to reduce inflation that “Comrade Kamala” had announced a day earlier – including a tough crackdown on price gouging – to the notoriously failed communist plans in Venezuela and the former Soviet Union.

“In her speech yesterday, Kamala was completely communist…” Trump told a packed crowd of supporters at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

“She wants to destroy our country. After causing catastrophic inflation, Comrade Kamala announced she wants to impose socialist price controls,” Trump said.

During the Biden-Harris administration, food prices nationwide have risen by more than 20 percent. At a rally in North Carolina on Friday, Harris outlined the economic policies she wants to implement in her first 100 days as president.

This includes the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enforcing a nationwide ban on price gouging and imposing heavy penalties on companies that set exorbitant prices.

“What they are doing is a communist takeover of our country,” Trump said of Harris' proposal.

“Their plan is very dangerous because it may sound good politically… It's communist; it's Marxist; it's fascist.”

The former president also took a few minutes to offer a rare compliment to the left-leaning Washington Post, which published a scathing editorial criticizing Harris for claiming that excessive prices lead to inflation and for offering “populist gimmicks” instead of a legitimate plan to solve the problem.

Trump's appearance was his seventh this year in the key swing state, where recent polls show a stalemate between him and Harris in the battle for Pennsylvania's 19 electoral votes.
