New SUV the size of Kia Seltos leaked! » MotorOctane

No! We are not misleading you with the title because the SUV is actually a Seltos-sized electric vehicle. Globally, it will be the Kia EV3. A few days ago, Kia teased the image of the EV3 on social media and the unveiling is scheduled to take place on May 23, 2024. However, just before the official unveiling, we have the images of the Kia EV3 or the Kia Seltos EV! Could this be the Seltos' electric vehicle for India – for a more established brand name?

Kia EV3 – Exterior

Let's start with the design of the SUV. In terms of design, the EV3 seems to be heavily inspired by the flagship Kia EV9 SUV. At the front, we see a similar vertical headlight arrangement along with the LED daytime running lights. The grille is absent on this model as it is an electric SUV. The side profile seems to have a boxy design that sits on stylish alloy wheels. The boxy shape of the SUV suggests a spacious cabin. At the rear, we see stylish taillights that again resemble the EV9. Otherwise, it has a steep rear window, a rear camera and a subtle spoiler. The rear window washer seems to be missing and that could be due to the sloping rear window!

Inner

Inside, the EV3 may remind you of the Kia Seltos at first glance. This is because of the two 10.25-inch screens. Just like the Seltos, the EV3 has a 10.25-inch touchscreen system and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, but expect an advanced UI system. Also, the EV3 has the steering wheel from Kia's EV family that we previously saw on the Kia EV6. It's a 2-spoke unit with an offset position for the Kia logo! Otherwise, it has a multi-layered dashboard with a combination of black-grey and blue.

The Kia EV3 will be a feature-packed SUV. Expect the SUV to come with a panoramic sunroof, ADAS Level 2, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, 36-degree camera, premium surround sound system, and more.

Kia Seltos EV – Battery Specifications

The Kia EV3 will be based on the E-GMP platform developed by Hyundai. It is the same platform that underpins the EV6 and EV9. What is special about this platform is that it supports different powertrains and battery sizes. However, we cannot confirm the exact power or battery figures. However, expect them to be rather lower than the EV6 or EV9. Even the charging speed will be lower, which will only help the brand keep the overall cost of the SUV under control.

Market launch & price

The Kia EV3 is expected to make its global debut on May 23, 2024. However, we can assume that prices will be announced in the next few days. Also, Kia is highly expected to launch the EV3 in the Indian car market. But what about the pricing? Well, it is a bit too early to talk about the pricing. The EV SUV series is a luxurious offering from Kia as the EV6 costs over Rs 50 lakh in India. While the upcoming EV9 is expected to cost more than Rs 90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
