Death investigation underway after man found dead in car at Buffalo Grove grocery store

Police say they are conducting a death investigation after a man was found dead in a car outside a Buffalo Grove grocery store on Saturday afternoon.

Buffalo Grove Police and Fire Departments responded to the incident at Woodman's Market, 1550 Deerfield Parkway, at approximately 2:57 p.m. Saturday.

Police officials said they received an emergency call because there was a person in a vehicle and a foul odor was emanating.

When officers arrived, they located a man in a blue Chevrolet Equinox parked at the south end of the parking lot.

First responders at the scene of the accident confirmed the man's death and an investigation into the death was launched.

The police said they assumed there was no danger to the public.

A large fire and police presence was on site for over three hours on Saturday afternoon and into the evening.

The Lake County Coroner's Office arrived at the scene and is currently planning an autopsy on the deceased.

The man's identity is being kept secret until his family is notified.

Police have now cleared the crime scene but say further information was not immediately available for release.
