Pedestrian killed in accident

JONESBORO, Arkansas (KAIT) – A woman died after being hit by a car in Jonesboro.

In a preliminary accident report, Arkansas State Police said the accident occurred at 11:10 p.m. on Friday, August 16, at the intersection of S. Caraway Road and Needham Street.

According to the report, a driver was traveling north on South Caraway Avenue when he failed to see the pedestrian and struck her with the front of his vehicle.

The pedestrian was identified as 33-year-old Sarah L. Payne. Payne succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, August 17.

According to the report, Payne was taken to St. Bernards, but her body is being kept at Regional One Health in Memphis.

The driver of the vehicle was not identified in the report.

At the time of the accident, the weather conditions were clear and the road was dry.
