Baltimore City sheriff's deputy arrested for drunk driving in Ocean City – Baltimore Sun

A deputy sheriff and Baltimore city attorney was arrested on Aug. 15 on charges including drunken driving, charging documents show.

Nicholas Blendy, 44, has served in his current role since December. Previously, he served as deputy executive secretary of the Board of Liquor License Commissioners for the City of Baltimore.

According to the police report, the officer involved in the incident was busy conducting another traffic stop shortly after 2 a.m. when he noticed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit and zigzagging back and forth between his lanes.

When stopped, Blendy admitted to drinking alcohol before driving. The officer also noted “the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Blendy's breath and body,” as well as a bloodshot and glassy look in Blendy's eyes and slurred speech.

Blendy failed several breathalyzer tests and was subsequently arrested. The officer then found an open beer can in the car.

Blendy was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Worcester County District Court in mid-September.

The Baltimore Sheriff's Office confirmed that Blendy is currently employed there, but declined further comment, citing ongoing legal proceedings.
