Steelers RB Jaylen Warren leaves the game with a thigh injury, his return against the Bills is questionable

The Pittsburgh Steelers received bad news in their warm-up game against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night. Running back Jaylen Warren left the game with a hamstring injury and his return is questionable, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Warren had a stellar season for the Steelers last year, posting over 1,000 all-purpose yards and four total touchdowns. He had 784 rushing yards and 370 rushing yards.

Mina Kimes expects a groundbreaking year from Jaylen Warren

A few months ago, ESPN's Mina Kimes had high praise for Jaylen Warren.

She is expecting the running back of the Pittsburgh Steelers Jaylen Warren to have a great 2024 season. During an appearance on ESPN NFLLive, The NFL analyst had high praise for Warren when he talked about the Steelers' new offensive form.

“Jaylen Warren is the best running back on their squad. He is not only more explosive than [Najee Harris]he's one of the best running backs in the NFL,” Kimes said. “I think he's so complete, so good at forcing missed tackles, he's good in pass defense, he can catch passes.”

His breakthrough game against the Packers

One of the games that stood out for Warren was last season when he ran for 101 yards and a touchdown against the Packers. “I mean, it was cool,” Warren said at the time, according to Yahoo Sports. “Like I said yesterday, as long as we're winning, that's all that matters to me.”

Warren signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in 2022 after playing for Oklahoma State. In his rookie season, Warren ran for 379 yards and one touchdown on 77 carries.

Ahead of the 2022 draft, NFL.com's Lance Zierlein shared his thoughts on Warren. “A wrecking ball on wheels who plays with the kind of speed and power that makes studying tape a blast,” Zierlein wrote. Warren is a confident competitor who has proven he can handle the workload and spotlight of the Big 12.

“He is determined and can break through at full speed. However, he lacks the power and agility to extend his runs too far out. He is a momentum runner who is much harder to catch with each step he takes, but he needs to be blocked as he lacks the ability to create space for himself early in the run. He is talented at blocking and has a chance to compete for a backup role.”
