Suspect in Crooked River Ranch shooting taken into custody after standoff and large police operation; victim taken to hospital

(Update: Add video from scene)

CROOKED RIVER RANCH, Ore. (KTVZ) — A reported shooting in Crooked River Ranch led to a standoff with a barricaded suspect and a major police and SWAT team response Saturday afternoon that ended with the arrest of a suspect, Jefferson County Sheriff Jason Pollock said.

Pollock confirmed online reports of a shooting on Shad Road and that a suspect had barricaded himself inside a building. Many officers were on scene and surrounded the building, and the victim was taken to the hospital. He said online reports of an “active shooter” were unfounded.

The sheriff confirmed that the suspect was in custody at around 4:45 p.m.

Residents had previously reported seeing up to 20 or more police vehicles and SWAT units driving at high speed to the scene or gathering there.

Our Kelsey McGee traveled to the scene and found crime scene tape surrounding the area. After the incident was concluded, law enforcement gathered at the CRR Fire District offices. No further information was provided, but we expect to learn more and will update this report as more details become available.
