Davenport man arrested last Tuesday for hit-and-run in Clinton County

CLINTON CO., Iowa (KWQC) – A Davenport man was arrested Friday in connection with a hit-and-run crash near Wheatland that left a man seriously injured last Tuesday.

Jason Maki, 51, of Davenport was in the Clinton County Jail Friday night for leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in serious injury.

Court records show Maki was charged with disregarding a stop sign and failing to yield the right of way at the intersection of 154th Avenue and Highway 30 just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, the same time and place as the hit-and-run incident currently being investigated by the Clinton County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.

Clinton County Sheriff Bill Greenwalt confirmed to TV6 that the arrest and citation are related to Tuesday's hit-and-run crash.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Ronald D. O'Haver, 60, was driving westbound on U.S. 30 just before 7 p.m. Tuesday when a vehicle traveling southbound on 154th Avenue ran a stop sign and struck O'Haver.

O'Haver was flown by helicopter to the University of Iowa Hospital, the crash report states. His current condition is unknown.

Maki is accused of driving the vehicle that struck O'Haver.
