McDonald's disaster in Springfield, MA – NBC Boston

Two people were injured when a car crashed into a McDonald's in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday night.

The Springfield Fire Department said it arrived at the scene of a car crash at 806 Boston Road around 10:30 p.m.

One occupant was able to free himself from the vehicle and was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the fire department said.

A McDonald's customer was also taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Images shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) show a heavily damaged vehicle parked next to the McDonald's restaurant. Some of the store's glass windows are completely shattered and at least one awning is damaged.

The fire department has not provided any information about the cause of the accident. Further information was not immediately available.
