Mark Wahlberg describes his next film as “The Italian Job meets Heat” – Film News | Film-News.co.uk

Mark Wahlberg was “really happy” to have signed on for 'Play Dirty'.

The 53-year-old actor stars in the upcoming thriller, which follows the revenge of a professional thief who is framed and left for dead. Directed by Shane Black, Black described the film as a mix of the classic gangster film “The Italian Job” and the 1995 thriller starring Al Pacino.

He told Collider: “For me, it's like 'The Italian Job' meets 'Heat.' It's got the action, it's got the high stakes, it's got the humor, it's got these great characters, Shane Black's best dialogue. I've been waiting a long time to get a script like this. Every time we talked about it, 'Okay, what kind of movie do you want to do as an actor, if we're talking about a big, huge commercial movie?' And 'Lethal Weapon' is always really close, and some of the other movies that Shane has written, so I couldn't have been happier. Hopefully he was as happy with the experience as I was!”

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that “Get Out” star LaKeith Stanfield would play Grofield, Mark’s character’s accomplice, while “Parenthood” actress Rosa Salazar and “The Purge” actor Dermot Mulroney are among the other names on the cast list.

Meanwhile, Mark has announced plans to reboot the sci-fi classic The Six Million Dollar Man, which was filmed around a decade ago. Despite various delays and frustrations, he has stated that he remains committed to the project.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Mark joked, “You know, I have a superhero movie in mind, and it's 'The Six Billion Dollar Man,' formerly known as 'The Six Million Dollar Man,' which has gone up in price due to inflation.

“It's grounded, plausible and real. You know, there's a lot of bionic technology and science out there right now. So this is something that fulfills all the desires of a superhero, incredible things.”

“But I don't have to wear one of those suits. I don't have the confidence to walk around in one of those suits.”
