Singer Bebe Rexha claims she was banned from a Lufthansa flight after a security guard “threatened” her for speaking Albanian

Singer Bebe Rexha said she was threatened and barred from her flight for allegedly speaking Albanian to an airport security guard, adding that she was the victim of a hate crime.

The 34-year-old singer was on her way to the USA when she was prevented from boarding her plane at Munich International Airport on Saturday.

“The supervisor of this Lufthansa flight is threatening me,” Rexha emotionally claimed in an Instagram story, wiping tears from her eyes.

“Lufthansa, I was threatened because I thought the security guard was Albanian,” she wrote under the video. “I spoke to him in Albanian and asked where I could get my ticket and now he's banning me from flying.”

Rexha, whose family is of North Macedonian and Albanian descent, said the man abused his power without identifying himself.

“I believe this is a hate crime because I am Albanian,” she said in a second post. “He wouldn't let me take his name. He continued to abuse me psychologically to make me feel he was more powerful than [sic] that was him.”

The singer of “I'm Good (Blue)” claimed that no female Lufthansa employee would help her because her alleged tormentor was still going on.

“None of the women at Lufthansa intervened or said anything,” Rexha added. “He wouldn't give me his name. But I just found out he works for ATSG, a document control service provider contracted by Lufthansa.”

After her investigation, Rexha found that the unnamed employee allegedly works for “ATSG,” an aviation services company contracted by Lufthansa.

“I have never been so emotionally drained,” Rexha said in an update. “Lufthansa has sent me a direct message, but I urge them to conduct a full investigation to find out who this man is who abused his power. An 'I'm sorry' will not be enough this time.”

In addition to the posts detailing her travel nightmare, Rexha also shared an Instagram story from her mother's account threatening legal action.

“Bebe was treated abusively by an airport employee, which was a clear violation of my rights as a passenger,” Rexha’s mother Bukurije Rexha claimed in her account.

“The agent's conduct was not only unprofessional, but also discriminatory and degrading, and caused significant emotional distress,” the protective mother added. “This incident may warrant legal action for harassment, emotional distress, and possible violations of applicable consumer protection and anti-discrimination laws.”

Bukurjie Rexha also came out to Lufthansa and Munich Airport to ensure that her daughter returned home safely, and the employee faced consequences.

“Please investigate the male police officer who threatened a woman for speaking Albanian. Take away your cameras,” the elder Rexha said.
