Doctor's main defendant in rape and murder case undergoes psychological profiling

According to sources, psychological profiling has begun for Sanjay Roy, the prime suspect in the rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The accused will now undergo psychiatric examinations, including forensic psychological profiling.

Unlike lie detection or brain mapping, which require court approval, these tests — like multi-layered voice analysis — can be done without prior approval. Sources mentioned that approval for lie detection or brain mapping will be obtained later if needed.

In response to the large-scale protests surrounding the incident, the Kolkata Police has enforced Section 163 of the Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 around the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the incident occurred, for seven days from Sunday.
