Gennady Golovkin has reportedly offered Terence Crawford a fight!

The hottest rumor currently circulating on various boxing websites is that former middleweight king Gennady Golovkin has been offered a big fight with Terence Crawford to take place in Saudi Arabia. Nothing is official yet and maybe never will be, but a message on social media posted by BoxRaw reads as follows:

“Fight rumor of the day!”

According to some reports, Gennady Golovkin has been offered a fight against Terence Crawford in Saudi Arabia.”

Golovkin is now 42 years old and has not fought since losing to Canelo Alvarez in their third fight in September 2022. GGG, 42-2-1(37), last won a fight in April 2022 when he stopped Ryota Murata in Japan in nine rounds. Some time ago, Golovkin said that he was “not retired.”

“I never announced my retirement and it's not in my nature to announce such things,” he said earlier this year. “For me, life is made up of moments and if an opportunity arises or something happens, then yes, maybe we'll see Gennady Golovkin back in the ring.”

So has something surfaced in the form of a fight offer with pound-for-pound star and, like GGG, a future Hall of Famer, Crawford? Who knows if there's any truth to that rumor. But if the fight does happen – Crawford vs. Triple G sometime next year, probably in Riyadh, if it happens at all – we'd all definitely be tuning in. And just imagine what a story that would be, how Golovkin's size would skyrocket if he actually managed to beat “Bud” and break his undefeated record!

This is obviously going too far, but we have seen stranger things in boxing, as we have seen more unexpected fights come out of the blue. Just last week, Saudi backer Turki Alalshikh said he believes Crawford is interested in a fight with Canelo and nothing else. But could Crawford also be interested in a fight with Golovkin?

If a fight between Crawford and Golovkin were to happen sometime in 2025, would it be a tough fight, a terrible mismatch, or maybe something in between?
