Video shows fiery high-speed crash at Southern California intersection

Dashcam video captured the moment a pickup truck burst into flames after a high-speed crash at a busy intersection in the San Fernando Valley.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the accident occurred around 5:09 p.m. at the corner of Lassen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard in Mission Hills.

A passerby's dashcam video showed a white Lexus sedan speeding past him and crashing into the dark gray Ford pickup truck that was turning left.

The high-speed impact caused both cars to lose control and crash into a traffic light pole behind them. Flames immediately broke out under the truck.

The truck landed on a nearby sidewalk and the white sedan crashed into a wall right in front of a CVS parking lot.

Both vehicles were totaled as a large amount of car debris was scattered across the busy intersection.

“I saw in my rearview mirror that [the white sedan] “They were coming so fast they were going to hit someone,” said Seth Gurlal, whose dashcam recorded the collision. “They didn't care about anyone.”

Witnesses reported that passers-by in the area immediately rushed to help the injured driver who was trapped in the burning truck.

“They pulled a woman out, but her feet were stuck,” said witness Rosa Madrigal. “They pulled her out, but the moment they did that, I saw that she was bleeding from her side.”

The woman was taken to hospital, but her condition was still unknown on Saturday evening.

It is unclear if the suspected driver was also injured as the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information can call the LAPD at 1-877-527-3247.
