Two Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza, military death toll rises to 691

According to the Israel Defense Forces, two Israeli soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in central Gaza on Saturday.

The victims were identified as Major (res.) Yotam Itzhak Peled, 34, of Rosh Haayin, and Sergeant Major (res.) Mordechai Yosef Ben Shoam, 34, of Geva Binyamin. Both served with the 8119th Battalion of the Jerusalem Brigade.

They were killed in the IDF-controlled Netzarim Corridor in central Gaza while on their way to deliver supplies to troops in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City.

According to official military figures, the death toll among Israeli soldiers since the start of the ground offensive in Gaza on October 27 is 331, and since the Hamas-led massacre on October 7, the death toll on all fronts is 691.

In addition, Ch. Insp. Arnon Zamora, a member of the Border Police's national counterterrorism unit Yamam, was fatally wounded during a hostage rescue mission in Gaza last month, and civilian defense contractor Liron Yitzhak was fatally wounded in May.
