Ubisoft has cut jobs in its US offices –

Ubisoft announced that it has eliminated 45 jobs this week at its offices at Ubisoft San Francisco and Red Storm Entertainment in Cary, North Carolina.

Previously, a game Red Storm was working on, called Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland, was canceled earlier this year, with a spokesperson explaining at the time that the staff would be redistributed to other projects such as Rainbow Six.

This is part of an ongoing trend of cutbacks and job losses across the gaming industry, but also at the Assassin's Creed publisher. While it's unclear how many employees at each studio are affected, a Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed that affected employees will receive severance pay and career support from the publisher, but again, exact details of that support were not disclosed.

Previous work from the team at Red Storm Entertainment includes the Far Cry series, and the team at Ubisoft San Francisco is responsible for games like the Rocksmith series and South Park: The Fractured but Whole (thanks, IGN).
