Suspect arrested after shooting into crowd, 3 people injured in Bricktown

One man is in custody and three people are in the hospital after he fired shots at a busy intersection in Bricktown on Sunday morning, according to police.

Oklahoma City police officers responded to gunshots near the intersection of Sheridan and Oklahoma Avenue shortly before 2 a.m.

According to Captain Valerie Littlejohn of the Oklahoma City Police Department, officers at the scene said they heard gunshots and saw a large crowd at the intersection.

According to police, officers saw the suspect firing and pursued him. He allegedly turned toward the officer with his weapon, whereupon OCPD officers shot him.

According to police, the suspect was not hit and ran from the scene, dropping his weapon.

He was chased for several blocks before he was arrested.

Police said three people were injured by the suspect's gunfire. They were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was taken into custody and the two officers who fired their weapons were placed on leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the shooting and it is unclear where the crowd came from.
