Shooting in Rockford leaves one dead and one seriously injured

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A 27-year-old man dies and another man is seriously injured after a shooting in Rockford.

On the morning of August 18, Rockford Police responded to the 4500 block of Governor's Drive in Rockford for a report of a shooting.

At around 5 a.m., police said two men had been shot and taken to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Three hours later, police announced that one of the shooting victims had died early that morning.

The man's identity has not been released. It is unclear if any suspects are in custody.
