Sumter police offer $5,000 reward for information in hotel shooting

COLUMBIA, SC (WAKE) — Police are currently investigating a tragic incident in which two people died at a hotel in Broad Street early this morning.

According to officials with the Sumter Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Sleep Inn on Broad Street around 4:30 a.m. on reports of gunshots.

When they arrived, they discovered two victims who were pronounced dead at the scene.

Details about the shooting are currently scarce as the investigation is still in its early stages.

Sumter police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 803-436-2700.
