Dricus Du Plessis was especially happy about his victory at UFC 305, knowing that Drake had lost a lot of money because of him.

The South African fighter defeated Israel Adesanya by submission in Round 4 of the main event after Drake announced he had bet $450,000 on Adesanya to win the middleweight bout.

Du Plessis quickly took to social media after the fight to “thank” the Canadian rapper and showed off his title belt:

Saturday's triumph was Du Plessis' 22nd career victory and his 10th consecutive win.

Drake's sports betting history has become infamous. There is even a website dedicated to his alleged “curse” on sporting events.

Du Plessis' current winning streak shows that a curse may not have slowed him down. Saturday was his first successful middleweight title defense since taking the belt from Sean Strickland in January, and he was able to pull off the win despite losing the slugfight 105-99, according to UFC Stats.

He will now focus on continuing his winning streak and remaining middleweight champion. UFC President Dana White previously stated that the winner would face Strickland next, so it looks like Du Plessis will shift his focus to a rematch from UFC 297 in the coming months.
