Suspect of serious assault arrested after standoff

FARGO, ND (Valley News Live) – Two people escaped from a Fargo home and one person was arrested after a standoff with police and SWAT teams overnight.

Fargo Police received a report shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 17, that a man had attacked two people at a home in the 1000 block of Monte Carlo Drive.

The two people were able to escape the home before police arrived. One victim was taken to the hospital, while the other refused medical treatment. At this point, officers learned that the suspect, Frankie Manuel Moran, was still in the home and threatened to shoot officers if they entered.

Residents were told to evacuate, and Fargo police used a loudspeaker system to order Moran to leave the house. Police said he refused to comply with officers' orders.

The Red River Valley SWAT team was called to assist and SWAT negotiators made contact with Moran, but he refused to cooperate. At approximately 5:15 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, SWAT officers used a chemical irritant to remove Moran from the home and took him into custody.

Frankie Moran, a 35-year-old Fargo resident, was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault. He is being held in the Cass County Jail.
