BATAVIA/Caledonia: Woman dies after accident on Creek Road – Video News Service

On Saturday, August 17, 2024, at approximately 9:37 p.m., Genesee County Emergency Services received a call about downed power lines on Creek Road on the border with the city of Batavia. Batavia Fire and Police responded and discovered a power pole in the roadway and an overturned vehicle engulfed in flames in an embankment in the wooded area on the east side of Creek Road. Believing someone may have been inside the vehicle, police and fire crews entered the car and extinguished the fire.

A woman, later identified as Tanysha Thomas, 24, of Caledonia, was pulled from the vehicle and transported to UMMC where she was pronounced dead. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The preliminary investigation revealed that Thomas was traveling northbound on Creek Road when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve. The car struck a telephone pole, then a tree and rolled down the embankment where it landed on its roof. The Genesee County Sheriff's Office Crash Management Team was on scene and the investigation is currently ongoing. Also on scene was Mercy EMS.
