People accused me of abusing my wife for a money ritual

Nigerian socialite and businessman, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has admitted that some people claimed he abused his wife for a money ritual when she developed a strange disease.

The celebrity added that his wife fell ill after Valentine's Day on February 14, adding that she assured him that she would give birth to their baby and get back on her feet.

Cubana said in an interview with Chude Jideonwo: “My wife developed a strange illness after giving birth on Valentine’s Day.

“Someone called me and said, 'See what you're hearing – that I wanted to use my wife for juju,' and it was my friend. So the person who takes care of the brain is not the same person who takes care of the… so they were just different people.

“A professor said, 'Obi, your wife will not die, but I'm sorry, she will not be able to walk or give birth.' Tears! My wife held me and said, 'Don't worry, don't worry about her, let's go.' That night, I cried all night long and she said, 'Obi, I will walk again and I will train this baby.'”

He also spoke about the reason behind the lavish funeral ceremony he organized for his late mother in 2021, saying that there was a history in his family of people never living beyond the age of 80; his father, grandfather and uncle all died before reaching the age of 80.

“In my family, I'll say this for the first time: Nobody has lived to be 80. My father died at 66, my father's brother died at 75, my grandfather died at 78, and I told my mother, 'You're going to ruin this.'”

“I told her to break it if it was a generational curse or something. I promised her that at the funeral I would hold for her, no one would break it, and we started saving for it.”
