Ogdensburg woman charged with assault for June 20 incident

OGDENSBURG, NY (WWTI) – The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has completed its investigation into an incident that occurred in the late evening hours of June 20, 2024 at the City of Ogdensburg Police Department.

At the conclusion of that investigation, 40-year-old Jessica B. Rivers was charged with third-degree assault (misdemeanor), according to the sheriff's office. Rivers was arrested around 9:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16. According to a press release from the sheriff's office, the arrest was made due to negligent handling of a firearm while cleaning the gun after shooting practice, causing physical injury to another person.

The sheriff's office said Rivers received a summons to appear in Ogdensburg City Court at a later date.
