A 22-year-old man was arrested in connection with a shooting in South Bend early on the morning of August 18.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting early in the morning on August 18 that left two people injured.

South Bend police officers received a ShotSpotter alert for the 600 block of North Johnson Street after hearing gunshots while patrolling the area of ​​Johnson and Rupel streets.

During the investigation, they were informed of two victims who were admitted to Memorial Hospital with apparent gunshot wounds.

During the investigation, 22-year-old Tawain Wilkins was identified as a suspect. He was arrested on two preliminary charges related to the shooting and taken to the St. Joe County Jail.

This is currently an active and ongoing investigation.
