Man arrested in White Oak after chase with authorities from Louisiana and Texas

HARRISON COUNTY, Texas (KLTV) – A Texan man wanted by Louisiana State Police led authorities on a chase through Marshall, Longview and White Oak Saturday night.

According to a news release from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, deputies and Texas Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to assist Wascom police in the pursuit of a white Dodge Charger. The vehicle matched a wanted notice issued by Louisiana authorities earlier in the day.

In Marshall, the car began losing parts of a tire, the sheriff's office said, but the driver continued to flee through Longview and into White Oak. The chase ended when the Charger crashed into an oil change shop, authorities said.

However, the driver, identified as Salefu Amadou Sangaray, 28, of Lancaster, Texas, exited the vehicle and began running on foot, officials said. After a brief chase, he was caught and taken into custody.

Officers said they found a small amount of marijuana on Sangaray and several items in the Charger, including a stolen Glock pistol, an AK-47 rifle and oxycodone.

Sangaray was booked into the Harrison County Jail on charges including evading arrest, evading arrest with a vehicle, theft of a firearm, unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. His bail has not yet been set.
