Nike celebrates Kobe Bryant's birthday with the release of the Nike Kobe 9

Nike will continue expanding the Kobe Bryant signature line over the next few years as we will see a variety of new and previously released colorways of his iconic sneakers. The Nike Kobe line will return to a previous theme with the “Halo” series, further honoring the memory of Gigi and Kobe Bryant.

When Nike began reviving Kobe Bryant's signature line, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro “Halo” was one of the first releases, marking the return in August 2023. Since then, Nike has remained consistent in releasing Kobe Protro sneakers and the line has seen tremendous growth over the past year. Considering the popularity that Kobe Bryant's sneakers have remained over the years, it's really great to see them continue to be relevant and available to fans.

To celebrate Kobe Bryant's birthday, Nike is now bringing back the one-of-a-kind Nike Kobe 9 Elite. The revolutionary sneaker of the Nike Kobe line will return in the same “Halo” colorway one year after the release of the Nike Kobe 8.

Nike Kobe 9 Elite 'Halo'

The Nike Kobe 9 Elite has a unique design and features an instantly eye-catching structure with its high-top design. The shoes were the first in the Nike Kobe line to feature a high-top, which Bryant needed after tearing his Achilles tendon in 2013. Of particular note are the nine marks or “stitches” on the back heel, symbolizing the surgery and Bryant's famous road back to the court after recovery.

The “Halo” colorway returns in an iridescent Triple White colorway that includes the woven knit upper, updated Nike Zoom outsole, laces, and all over the lining. Featuring the Mamba logo on the enlarged tongue and subtly on the rear heel. We see small details like the carbon fiber midsole plates as well as a shimmering reflective Nike Swoosh.

Looking even closer, holographic Mamba logos can be seen along the upper support systems. All in all, the details are very well crafted and Nike has clearly taken the time to perfect this annual release for Kobe Bryant's birthday.

The Kobe 9 Elite “Halo” returns on August 23, 2024 and will be available in limited quantities at Nike and select retailers. The shoes retail for $240 and will be available in kids’ sizes with adjusted pricing. We expect this release to be very popular, so mark your calendar and set your alarm!
