NBA YoungBoy prepares to plead guilty in federal weapons case – faces up to 10 years in prison

NBA player is reportedly preparing to plead guilty in his 2020 federal gun case, marking a significant turn in his ongoing legal battles. According to local reporting from Baton Rouge-based WFAB, the rapper's attorney, Drew Findling, has filed documents indicating that his client is willing to change his guilty plea.

The case stems from a September 2020 incident in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was arrested along with 15 others during what appeared to be a music video shoot. The 20-year-old artist was arrested after authorities found him in possession of a .45 caliber Glock pistol and a Masterpiece Arms 9mm firearm with a Magpul RVG Vertical Grip.

As a convicted felon, YoungBoy faces serious weapons charges that could result in up to 10 years in prison. His legal team is also working to move the case to Utah, where the rapper currently lives and faces further legal troubles.

YoungBoy has built a strong fan base throughout his legal ordeal, often showing up in full force both online and in person. During a virtual court hearing on July 22, several fans logged in to chant “Free YB” after the rapper's performance, only to be informed by the judge that the hearing had already ended.

No sentencing date has been set for the gun trial, but YoungBoy's legal team is expected to continue fighting for the best possible outcome as the August 19 arraignment approaches.
