Remains found on property of Michigan man accused of murdering his wife

Human remains were found on the property of a Michigan man already charged with killing his wife, authorities said Sunday.

Dee Warner was reported missing on April 25, 2021; her husband, Dale Warner, was charged with murder and evidence tampering in November 2023.

“The remains are currently being recovered and there will be a lot of work and testing to do before a positive identification is possible,” Michigan State Police wrote on social media. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.

According to local newspaper The Daily Telegraph, Dee Warner's body was found on a rural property about two miles south of the Warners' shared home in Franklin Township.

The remains were found Friday in a sealed tank of anhydrous ammonia, a commonly used fertilizer, Dee's relatives told Toledo-based ABC affiliate WTVG.

The victim's brother, Gregg Hardy, told The Daily Telegraph he had spoken to investigators about what he believed was his sister's body might be hidden in a tank on the property.

Officials “found a tank that was freshly painted, had new hardware and a weld that looked unprofessional. It was locked in a separate room in the building and had a sign that said 'Do Not Use.' That's the exact tank they took,” Hardy told the newspaper.

Investigators believe the Warners had an argument on the night of April 24, 2021, and that Dale then killed 52-year-old Dee and hid her body. However, no arrests were made in the case until more than two years after Dee's disappearance.

Dale Warner has pleaded not guilty to all charges. He remains in custody on $15 million bail and is scheduled to appear in court on September 4.
