Detectives investigate fatal shooting at SODO nightclub

Seattle Police detectives are investigating a fatal shooting at a South of Downtown (SODO) nightclub Saturday morning.

On August 17 at 3:09 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of 1st Avenue South. Police found a 22-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers provided medical attention to the victim until the Seattle Fire Department arrived on scene. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center (HMC) in critical condition. Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at HMC.

The man was shot in a nightclub by one or more unknown assailants. The guests dispersed before the police arrived and only found the security guard with the victim. The assailant(s) fled the scene. No arrests have been made so far.

The circumstances that led to the shooting are currently being investigated. The homicide squad and forensics team have examined the crime scene. Detectives from the homicide squad have been assigned to this case.
