Altoona man dies in motorcycle accident Friday night

A 23-year-old Altoona man died as a result of a motorcycle crash Friday night in Des Moines that left him with life-threatening injuries. According to Des Moines police, 23-year-old Trever Ray Vinzant was riding a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on East Euclid Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Friday. A 2019 Lexus SUV, driven by a 44-year-old Des Moines man, was traveling westbound on East Euclid when it turned left onto Wright Street and plunged directly into the path of Vinzant's motorcycle. Both vehicles collided at the intersection. Vinzant suffered life-threatening injuries. Paramedics began life-saving measures and transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. DMPD says this is the 12th fatal crash of 2024 in the city and the sixth involving a motorcycle. A 23-year-old Altoona man died Friday evening as a result of a motorcycle accident in Des Moines that resulted in serious injuries.

According to Des Moines police, 23-year-old Trever Ray Vinzant was riding a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on East Euclid Avenue around 11:40 p.m. Friday. A 2019 Lexus SUV driven by a 44-year-old Des Moines man was traveling westbound on East Euclid when it turned left onto Wright Street and went directly into the path of Vinzant's motorcycle. Both vehicles collided at the intersection.

Vinzant was seriously injured. Paramedics began life-saving measures and took him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday.

According to DMPD, this is the 12th fatal crash in the city in 2024, the sixth involving a motorcycle.

The investigation into the crash is not yet complete.
