Defendant completes prescribed driving program

The minor responsible for a tragic car accident in Pune has completed a mandatory 15-day driving safety course on the orders of the court. The accident, which occurred in Kalyani Nagar on May 19, resulted in the death of two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh and sparked nationwide outrage.

The court's decision to release the minor on bail, along with allegations that the incident was being covered up, have only increased public frustration. The accused was released on bail by the juvenile court on conditions, which included attending a driver safety program and submitting a 300-word essay on road safety.

An official from the Regional Transport Office (RTO) confirmed on Sunday that the youth had successfully completed the programme. The course, which was conducted discreetly to respect the youth's privacy, covered essential aspects of road safety, traffic rules and the importance of having a driving licence. The training included both theoretical classes and practical exercises on the ground.

In addition to the driving program, the teen has already submitted the required traffic accident essay. The case has attracted considerable attention due to the seriousness of the incident and the perceived leniency of the judicial process.
